I think the best science happens together—not just within a single project, but also as part of a collaborative scientific community. This page is a small space where I share how I'm learning, implementing ideas, and growing alongside many amazing scientists. You're likely already part of that in some way :) hopefully something here sparks an idea or helps you find your own network in our community.
This year's goal is to formalize a DEI program that complements the scientific program at CCN, creating opportunities for researchers at different career stages to connect, learn from one another, and build a stronger sense of community. We continue beloved initiatives such as the community lunch, mind matching, and travel and caregiver awards, and are introducing several new initiatives in 2026:
Mentorship Program — With the kind support of The Transmitter, we launched a new mentorship program connecting early- and mid-career researchers with experienced mentors to support career exploration both within and beyond academia. The inaugural cohort pairs 30 mentees with 15 mentors, prioritizing those navigating a career transition. The year-long program kicks off with a launch lunch at CCN 2026.
Growing Up in Science — The popular Growing Up in Science event returns to New York, co-organized with Weiji. This year features two early-career researchers sharing their personal journeys in science. By speaking openly about both the highs and lows of a research career, the event aims to create a space where everyone feels a little more connected, and a little less alone.
Early-Career Faculty Social Lunch — A new social lunch for early-career faculty, offering an informal setting to meet colleagues, exchange ideas, share experiences, and expand professional networks.
Transparency in Conference Policy — We co-developed a talk selection process with the program committee, and will publish transparency and inclusivity metrics for CCN 2026.
This year, we focus on applications of representational alignment, including neural control and the evaluation of downstream behavior. We also successfully launched the first round of the Representational Alignment Leaderboard Challenge—see the accepted blog posts for more details.
